JAM Fashion, introduces youth to the multitude of career opportunities within the fashion industry. Through hands on projects that include fashion photography, sewing garments and accessories, designing and constructing outfits, to being a “mock” fashion writer for an advertising agency; youth are immersed in the creative world of fashion. Guest artists conduct workshops that involve instructions in jewelry design, make-up application, modeling techniques and an introduction to the fashion design business. Youth work in small groups to brainstorm ideas about trends and create garments that include: neckties, hats & scarves, bags, pillows and stuffed teddy bears to name a few.
From the novice to intermediate sewer, projects are tailored to meet the individual levels of the participants so that all involved can have a meaningful and enjoyable experience. Youth host fashion shows and sales events for the community to showcase the projects they create in JAM Fashion.
