Childcare Services
OPP’s Southend Community Childcare Center is a nationally accredited preschool
program for 3 and 4 year old children, providing a safe, caring environment - and enrichment
activities that aimed at preparing them for kindergarten. Using the Creative Curriculum
for Early Childhood, we develop play-based activities to facilitate educational experiences.
The curriculum is designed to meet the Connecticut Framework for Preschool Curricular Goals
and Benchmarks and services meet all standards required by the Mayor’s Office for Young
Children. In addition, we offer parenting information resources and workshops that promote
the importance of family literacy.
While tuition for our childcare services – which offers free breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks – is based on income, youth parents receive priority for enrollment.
Our daughter is doing very well at school, the teacher says she is well advanced…
I hope you give yourself a lot of credit because I know we do.
- The Mercado Family
Providing subsidized childcare for young parents encourages them to continue their education, and gives them a better understanding of their child’s development. We encourage parents to share ideas to develop a plan for their children, which we believe will empower them to advocate for their children now and in the future.
