Youth Employment & Placement Services
OPP develops relationships with area employers to develop job opportunities for youth, referring them to jobs that match employer needs with youth skill and job interest. For youth who need to develop workplace readiness skills further, OPP offers several program options as described below.
- Youth Employment & Placement Services - OPP develops employment opportunities with area employers for job-ready youth, provides referrals and interview opportunities, and follows- up with job coaching as needed after employment.
- Young Professionals Academy - Youth who are not ready for the outside workforce are offered job readiness training with emphasis on workplace ethics, effective communications, and employer expectations. Training is followed by placement in a 6 to 8 week work internship where new workplace skills are fostered in a supported environment. Youth receive incrementally increased stipends based on their attendance and participation, which also that teaches them how to manage personal finances and understanding payroll processes.
